Recorded in 2003 in Toronto with some local Canadian heavyweights, Nakagawa Reed is an album that draws on Satoru and Doug's influences From blues, rock, country, and everywhere in between.
Satoru Nakagawa hails from Gunma, Japan.After seeing
Bruce Springsteen from the last row of the
Tokyodome,he knew what he wanted to do.He moved to
Baton Rouge and soaked up as much of the American
roots catalog as he could find.Then he attended the
Berklee College of Music in Boston,where he formed
Tokyo Tramps, an all Japanese roots rock band that
currently plays up and down the Northeast Coast.
Doug Reed is from Devon,Pennsylvania, just outside of
Philadelphia.A drummer for many years , he has picked
up the guitar and shares the songwriting duties with
Satoru.He brings his love of African and Grateful Dead
music to the already wide musical palette from which
he and Satoru share.
Yukiko Fujii was born and raised in Tokyo.She began
playing piano at age 6,and has been a bass player,
vocalist, sound engineer and concert organizer for
many years.She is currently the bass player and backup
vocalist for Tokyo Tramps.
